BALTIMORE —The debate on whether to sell beer and wine in Maryland grocery stores continued as a coalition asked state lawmakers to consider passing legislation.
The Maryland Consumer Freedom Coalition wants lawmakers to consider a bill that would legalize wine and beer sales in grocery stores. The bill did not make it to the floor last session.
"I feel as though it should happen," said Diamond Page, a shopper at the Giant grocery store in Locust Point. "I know in other states, it is in gas stations, grocery stores."
Hunter Anderson agrees.
"I think I'm all for it. It saves people from driving further. It creates more competition," Anderson said.
Jordyn Van Arsdale said it would make her shopping easier.
"Having to go to a grocery store and then a separate store to buy beer and wine is kind of annoying, so I think it would be very convenient," Van Arsdale said.
