Lawmakers in Annapolis heard testimony on Wednesday about a bill that would allow grocery stores to sell beer and wine. But not all lawmakers seem to be on board.
Those in favor of the bill say it would not create new licenses, but create convenience and allow Marylanders who live near the border to spend money here and not in other states.
The bill has been introduced before and failed.

Baltimore City Delegate Marlon Amprey says in addition to allowing convenience for consumers, it allows Maryland beer and wine makers to sell their products elsewhere, even out of state.
“Our local beer and wine sellers are not developing relationships with national retailers in order to get their product out of the state in a natural way,” Amprey said.
Maryland is one of only four states that do not allow the practice.
